Detour with me
Past the labs we
Still have three more minutes.
Grateful waste of academics
Boastful glow of obsolescence
Timelessness of science present
Treasures in a hallway on a table labeled free.
Petri dishes coasters fit or, yellow textbook tear-outs lined with, decoupage the bottom parts with roommate names and birthday art for keeping pendant necklaces and dirt and pins and pills. Plus, silver metal ashtrays caps, as luck would have, completed sets. Pipette! Pipette! Oh, better yet! A stack of unused pocket folders gloat the host and panel speakers at a past event.
From textbook excise chunk of center, straight-edge razors bookstore stolen, swim gym locker, scars all swollen, tie it up with ribbon, put it in a fashion show. Glossy models, textbook middles, varnish bottles, furnished bedroom. Wooden chair leg half collaged, up one side of the seat then gone, new tenants sitting in it.
Is sponsorship by colleges not garbage then or is it? Here knowledge can ferment, reject, forgive its once requirements, give reverence to mystery, teach theories of biography, experimental history, let memory romanticized ideal and really science be, released from unreal certainties: its records and the means with taken closed to reinterpretation, farthest field from observation, yet the most concrete?
In rusty dust expensive once
In progress is replaced with text upset and fact erased.
Every lusty new edition always must be incomplete.
